Induction Loop Systems

Loop systems are used by hearing aid users to overcome acoustic difficulties in certain situations.

Hearing aids are good for local conversations but not for listening to speech or music at a distance. Audio Frequency Induction Loop Systems for the hearing impaired (AFILS) bring an audio signal directly to the hearing aid therefore cutting out background noise.

What is a loop system and how does it work?

A loop system consists of a cable installed around the room connected via an amplifier to one or more sources of sound signals. The loop amplifier produces an audio frequency electric current in the induction loop cable, causing a magnetic field to be produced. Most hearing aids have a switch marked M and T. The microphone ‘M position’ is for “normal” listening. The telecoil ‘T position’ is for receiving the sound via the induction coil which is built into the hearing aid.

We have over 20 years experience supplying and installing loop systems in a wide range of buildings including churches, health centres, village halls, registrars, solicitor’s offices etc.
